About HANA's Regular Lessons
Less about dressing beautifully, more about dressing well, naturally.
A small-group classroom for anyone who wants to make kimono part of daily life — and keep it up for the long haul.
It's for anyone who can come once or twice a month to our classroom, a minute from Takahata-Fudo Station on the Keio Line.
In eight lessons, you'll be ready to head out wearing an otaiko knot (the basic obi tie).
Kimono Lessons for First-Timers
Here's what to expect from the lessons.
| No special gadgets required | Start with what you already have at home. We skip the dedicated padding aids and gadgets. |
|---|---|
| Kimono, obi & accessories on us | Don't have your own? Come empty-handed. We lend the classroom's kimono, obi, and accessories free of charge. |
| Practice plus the know-how | Beyond dressing itself, you'll learn how to fold a kimono, care for it, and pick the right one for the occasion. |
| Easy, beautiful dressing | We aim for dressing that's never too tight, never comes loose, and you can manage on your own. |
| Traditional, cords-only method | We teach a simple, adaptable method using only koshi-himo and date-jime. |
| Out the door in eight lessons | In eight lessons, you'll master the otaiko knot and be ready to dress yourself and step out. |
Lesson Style
| 90 minutes × 8 lessons | Each lesson runs 90 minutes, eight in all. We build up steadily from the basics. |
|---|---|
| Essentially one-on-one | As a rule, lessons are one-on-one. Friends can take one together, up to three at a time. |
| Book around your schedule | No fixed days or times — book whenever works for you. |
| A minute from the station | A minute on foot from Takahata-Fudo Station on the Keio Line. Easy to fit in around your errands. |
| Refreshers welcome | Learned before? You're more than welcome to come back for a refresher. |
| Never a sales pitch | We don't sell kimono or equipment, so you can focus on the lesson with total peace of mind. |
